About J G NevilleNow best known for his semi-sculptural work, John did not start painting regularly until his early twenties. Whilst developing a colourful and unusual style his early work was mainly industrial vistas and figure compositions, but after a ten year period in London he returned to Scotland and spent a lot of time in the Highlands. This inspired him to study and create landscape pieces. Encouraged by the results of this new subject he left his job in 1995 to devote more time to painting. Always experimenting, he allows his technique to develop and, over the last few years, his work has evolved into a low-relief style while retaining the use of colour.
