About Sharon MitchellSharon Mitchell was born in Ayrshire and, when growing up, quickly immersed herself in her first two loves; art and music. She studied piano to teaching level with A.B.R.S.M., but initially decided to follow a career in pharmacy. It is accepted that art and music go hand in hand but Sharon never lost her love for art and has, for some time, been painting in her own studio. Sharon regularly exhibits throughout Central Scotland, although some of her work is now in London, Canada, United States and France. Her love of travel has taken her all over the world and she likes to infuse her paintings of Scotland, Italy and France with strong colour and light, working mainly from sketchbooks and photographs. Oil is her chosen medium, although her watercolours of notable Scottish buildings are available in limited edition print. Sharon is constantly inspired by the rich Scottish landscapes around her and she captures the light and atmosphere she sees surrounding the rugged coastlines of her native country. She captures the vivid misty glens with a dramatic eye and uses bold and bright colours for flavouring her coastal scenes, Italian and French landscapes and architectural work. Her commissioned portrait work is in demand.
